Detail of coping stone installation.

What am I in for?

You might be surprised to find out that installation doesn't have to take weeks. The pool itself can be installed in as little a one day. Most installations are finished in two days.  Preparation, extent of excavation, site and other trades to complete the pool area often means the process takes 7-10 days all up. The things that have the most impact on your installation include your type of soil, pool installation and finished landscaping around the pool.  We can talk you through this at our initial site meeting.

Here's how a typical installation process works......

Council consents

We obtain your permit on your behalf, getting plans drawn and filing for building consent.  In some cases building consent for the pool is not required, and we can advise if this applies to you.  If Resource Consent, or other consents are required we file for these at the same time as the building consent. Consents take usually between 2 -4 weeks.

Booking the installation

Once we have your required consents approved, we then work with our installation and excavation teams to finalise an onsite installation date.

Installation

On the installation day, our team will mark out the pool and determine finished heights according to plans drawn and required landscaping around the pool.  We usually excavate the entire area including the space to be landscaped while the machine is onsite, this means that there is less chance of damage to your installed pool if other trades bring in excavators at a later date. Once landscaping excavation is completed we excavate the swimming pool hole, then get council and geotechnical engineer sign off.  Once this is completed and everything is ok, we're given the go-ahead to compact in the base of your swimming pool, and begin the installation process. This includes backfilling your pool hole while water is added to your pool, installing lights and filtration equipment to the pool and plumbing of the filtration equipment.  Once your pool is finished and running we leave this for the cement to harden in the backfill before pouring a concrete bond beam, this is like a collar that ties your pool to the landscape and provides a base for the coping stone to sit on.

Coping Stones

The finishing touch is putting in your chosen coping stones. Once the bond beam is poured and hardened, our professional tiler comes and installs your coping stones.  This is a two day process and once completed your pool is then ready for its final landscaping and fencing to be completed.
